Welcome To My School Study
Do You Know
1. Crown (Branchy Part of a Tree)
The crown is the upper part of a tree, which includes branches and leaves above the main stem.
Key Points:
- It spreads out at the top of the tree
- Helps in capturing sunlight for photosynthesis
- Provides shade and shelter for birds and animals
Understanding:
The crown is important for making food because leaves are present in this part.
Example:
Large trees like mango or banyan have wide crowns.
2. Decomposers (Formation of Humus)
Decomposers are micro-organisms that break down dead plants and animals into simpler substances.
Key Points:
- Convert dead matter into humus (rich organic soil)
- Help in recycling nutrients back into the soil
- Maintain balance in the ecosystem
Types of decomposers:
- Bacteria
- Fungi
Example:
Fungi growing on dead leaves help in decomposition.
3. Forest Products (Kerosene is Not Included)
Forest products are materials that we get directly from forests.
Common forest products:
- Gum (from trees)
- Plywood (from wood)
- Sealing wax (from plant sources)
Why kerosene is not a forest product:
- It is obtained from petroleum (fossil fuel), not from forests
Understanding:
Forest products come from plants or forest resources, not from underground fuels.
4. Forests – Green Lungs of the Planet
Forests are called the “green lungs” because they help in maintaining the balance of gases in the atmosphere.
Key Functions:
- Absorb carbon dioxide
- Release oxygen during photosynthesis
- Help in reducing air pollution
Importance:
They support life by providing clean air and maintaining environmental balance.
Example:
Dense forests produce large amounts of oxygen, helping living beings survive.
5. Food Chain (Sequence of Eating)
A food chain shows how energy passes from one organism to another through eating.
Key Points:
- Starts with producers (plants)
- Followed by consumers (animals)
- Ends with decomposers
Simple Structure:
Plant → Herbivore → Carnivore
Example:
Grass → Deer → Lion
Importance:
It shows the flow of energy and helps maintain balance in nature.
